Miles Loves Sports! Whether it is fishing, skateboarding, surfing, softball, basketball, snowboarding or the like, he loves it. His passion, however, is baseball. Miles began playing baseball in the T-Ball division at 4 years old and never quit. He moved on to Pony Baseball at the West Hills Baseball League where he played until he entered high school. Miles was a Thoroughbred at WHBL, playing every season of every year. He won 2 championships and was elected to play in each division All-Star team.
Miles was on the Varsity team by the middle of his sophomore year at Calabasas High School where he earned the starting shortstop position for the remainder of his HS career. In his senior year he was named a Mid-Season All-Star and selected to the All-Marmonte Team.
Due to his relatively small stature, Miles did not get many looks from Universities. In his junior year at a camp at Oklahoma State University he was told, “go to a JC, get bigger and more experience…we are looking for size and strength.” This did not deter Miles from achieving his goal of playing college baseball. The next year he was asked to play on the Cardinals scout team where he was seen by the Pepperdine University coaches. This 5’11”, 155 lb. player now had someone’s attention for his skills, work ethic and heart. Coach Rodriguez (head baseball coach at Pepperdine) gave Miles the opportunity to be a walk on player and earn a spot in their Division 1 program. On the last day before school started, Miles enrolled at Pepperdine and thus began his road to success. Miles, a redshirt freshman, worked his tail off for an entire year. He needed to grow, learn and develop his skills quickly to play at this level. He played summer ball in the wood bat leagues until he eventually got his opportunity to start at the beginning of his sophomore year. With the senior SS on the disabled list, Miles filled in like he was born to be there. Miles started in over 150 games at eight different positions in his college career, culminating in a West Coast Conference Championship in his last year of eligibility. Miles now has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Pepperdine University and a Championship memory he will always cherish.
Miles finished his college career at 5’11” (never grew an inch) and weighed in at 200lbs. Hard work and perseverance gained him access to his dream. While many have asked if he wanted to play pro-ball, the answer was always, “of course.” Although a pro career was not meant to be for Miles, he is grateful for his opportunities and proud of his accomplishments. Miles journey was his proving ground that laid the foundation for the man he is today. More than ever his commitment to helping young athletes achieve success through hard work and perseverance is his ultimate reward.
“Establishing a strong work ethic is in your control.
It will prepare you for all your opportunities, on and off the field.” -Miles

Hitting, Catching, Fielding
I started playing baseball at Sunrise Little League and I’m currently playing at LA Valley College. For more than 4 years, I have been training players of all ages; correct mechanics, fundamentals of the game as well as preparing them mentally and physically. I love this game so much and want to give back to the community where it all began.
